Hatfield McCoys Indian Ridge Trail System's main trailhead is located in Northfork, WV and has a large parking lot and a small building that has bathrooms. This trail head is NOT staffed so you'll have to stop at the local store to get supplies and trail passes. The road leading to the trailhead is a bit narrow and makes quite a few twists and turns. It's not too bad during the daylight hours but can be tricky after dark.

Ashland ATV Resort is located RIGHT ON the Indian Ridge Trail system and has been one of the top ATV resorts in West Virginia for years (be sure to read our Lodging Review for Ashland ATV Resort). There are several other smaller ATV Parks and campgrounds located in the vicinty of the Indian Ridge System and almost all have easy access to the trails.

The Indian Ridge Trail System has a wide range of trails with a good mix of difficulty levels. The trails are well maintained as are just about all the HMT. This trail system can boast about it's mud! There is plenty of mud on most of the trails and most are fun to ride throuugh without worrying about getting swamped.

The only downfall to Indian Ridge is it's combination of lack of trails (you can ride all of them in 3-4 hours) and it's direct access to Ashland Resort. While it's GREAT to be able to stay at a top rated resort, the trails adjacent to Ashland ATV Resort get quite full on weekends. The Indian Ridge Trail System does connect to other HMT systems (Pocahantas and Pinnacle Creek) so that helps tremendously. Hopefully the Hatfield McCoy folks will be adding more Indian Ridge trails in the near future.

In summary, Indian Ridge has some great trails, fantastic mud, and riders of all skill levels will have a blast on this trail system!
